Weโre thrilled to have completed the first two phases of Co-developing Art Technologies for More Inclusive Visual Art Spaces!
Artists, academics, and organisations explored how art, technology, and science can create fairer, more accessible studios and exhibition spaces for neurodivergent and learning-disabled artists.
In June 2025, we visited Acme, ActionSpace ,Cockpit Studios, SPACE Studios London and Studio Voltaire, talking to artists about what works, what could improve, and co-creating their ideal studio spaces. In Phase Two this month, artists and studio reps visited UCL PEARL for a hands-on workshop, seeing live demonstrations of sound, light, and vibration technologies, and incorporating these into their studio designs.
Huge thanks to our team Sara Adhitya, Jo Townshend, Sheryll Catto, Isher Dhiman and participating artists Jonathan Huxley, Paul Savage, Judith Walker, Pete Gomes, Godelive Kasangati Kabena, Kinska, Memei, Sam Winston, Nigel Ellis, Emmanuelle Walker, Thompson Hall, and Babajide Brian.
Building on the 2024 art-tech innovation event by Sara Adhitya (UCL PEARL) and Jo Townshend (CVAN London), this project explores ways to improve studio and exhibition environments for neurodivergent and learning-disabled artists.
We look forward to sharing insights, research, and policy recommendations soon!
